Ambrosio’s Take
Fuzzy’s Taco Shop operates a casual, counter-service Mexican concept known for its margaritas and late-night hours alongside its taco menu, differentiating itself from more traditional fast-casual Mexican chains. Against a $1,049,500 to $3,040,500 investment range, the system’s 90 traditional restaurants averaged $1,608,725 in annualized gross sales in 2025, producing a 0.8:1 sales-to-investment ratio, below most of the Mexican-food competitors cited in this post and well under the 2:1 benchmark many restaurant analysts favor. A notable geographic split shows up in the data: restaurants outside Texas averaged $1,972,292, exceeding Texas locations’ $1,317,871 average by 33.2% and even landing roughly on par with the top-quartile performers in Texas, where Fuzzy’s has a much denser footprint. The brand’s unit count has also been shrinking, down from 134 franchised restaurants at the start of 2023 to 105 by the end of 2025, a trend worth watching alongside the relatively modest sales-to-investment economics.
