When you’re looking for the franchise that’s right for you, it’s useful to see how various chains compare to one another in terms of average annual revenues. But putting together this kind of listing is a little tricky since not all franchises report their data the same way. For this reason, we present the rankings grouped into the following tiers:
The franchises in Tier 1 are those with average annual revenues above $1 million. Tier 2 franchises are those with average annual revenues from $500,000 to $1 million. The franchises in Tier 3 are those with less than $500,000 in average annual revenues. The listings within each tier are ranked from highest to lowest average annual revenues.
Avoid direct comparisons of franchises within each tier because of the differences in how they report their data. Use this information instead as a big-picture view to quickly identify franchises you want to add to your shortlist for closer examination.
You’ll also find a separate listing at the bottom of the page for those franchises that don’t report their average annual revenue data at all.
