Where Basketball Meets Video Games: Inside Shoot 360’s Sixth Straight Record Year

Learn Which Franchises Can Make You Rich

Shoot 360 is a technology-powered basketball training platform that combines in-person coaching with real-time feedback, performance tracking, and interactive, gamified drills. Designed for athletes of all ages and skill levels, the brand helps players develop their shooting, passing, and ball-handling while allowing them to measure their progress over time. Shoot 360 continues to expand its reach through new markets, formats, and strategic partnerships while remaining focused on making basketball development more engaging and effective.

Founder and President Craig Moody launched Shoot 360 in 2012 after recognizing an opportunity to bring the engagement of basketball video games into a real-world training environment. Drawing on decades of high school and college coaching experience, Moody developed the concept to combine technology and data with hands-on instruction rather than replace the role of the coach. Under his leadership, Shoot 360 has grown from a single training concept into an expanding franchise brand serving the broader basketball community.

Franchise Chatter: Shoot 360 opened six new locations in the first half of 2026, awarded five new franchise agreements, and expects 14 additional openings by year-end. What has been driving that momentum?

When I owned a UPS Store, I learned firsthand how much your ZIP code shapes your outcome. I sold my store at a premium because my territory was in a high-value area. The best areas go first, and once they're gone, they're gone. Enter your ZIP code to see which franchises are still available near you, saving you months of wasted research.

Colin started as a team member at 21 and now owns 6 locations in Tampa Bay. Lisa came from marketing and built 21 in San Diego. The most successful multi-unit owners move early and secure markets with room to grow. Moody: Several factors are contributing to the momentum. Shoot 360 has continued to prove that the model can work across different markets, from local franchise locations to international openings and new formats like fitness-center partnerships.

The brand has also built a strong development pipeline by giving franchise partners a differentiated concept in the youth sports and basketball training space. As more locations open and perform, it creates confidence in the model and helps drive continued interest from new operators.

Franchise Chatter: The brand is on pace for its sixth consecutive record-breaking year for installed and opened locations. What does that milestone say about demand for technology-powered basketball training?

Moody: It shows that the demand for basketball training is evolving. Athletes and families are looking for more than traditional drills or open gym time. They want training that is measurable, competitive, and engaging.

Shoot 360 meets that demand through real-time analytics, machine vision, and gamified training that allows athletes to track progress and stay motivated. Being on pace for a sixth consecutive record year reinforces that technology-powered skill development is becoming a larger part of how athletes train, and that franchisees are entering a category with strong long-term momentum as technology continues to reshape youth sports.

Franchise Chatter: Shoot 360 has 40 locations currently in development across the U.S., Canada, and Asia. How has the concept translated across different markets, including new openings in Springfield, Missouri; Saitama, Japan; and Oakville, Ontario?

Moody: Basketball is a global game, and the desire to improve resonates across markets. Whether a location is in the U.S., Canada, or Japan, athletes are looking for training that helps them build skills and track real progress. Another part of what makes Shoot 360 so unique is the power of our technology to connect people across the world — athletes can compete against each other in real time across locations.

We’ve built consistency across our technology platform, operating model, and training systems so the core Shoot 360 experience can be delivered anywhere. At the same time, our franchise partners understand their local communities and tailor that to fit their markets. That balance of a proven system with local ownership has been an important driver of our domestic and international expansion.

Franchise Chatter: Shoot 360 recently launched a pilot program with Fitness Intl LLC to bring its training experience into existing basketball courts inside LA Fitness and City Sports Clubs. How did that partnership come together, and what opportunity does it create for future growth?

Moody: The Fitness Intl LLC pilot was built around a natural opportunity to bring Shoot 360 into existing fitness environments with basketball courts already in place. The first location opened in Hillsboro, Oregon, with more planned in the Seattle area and South Bay area.

This creates another potential growth path for the brand. It allows us to introduce the Shoot 360 experience to athletes who may not otherwise visit one of our standalone facilities while also testing a more flexible format beyond the traditional standalone facility model.

Franchise Chatter: Beyond franchise expansion, Shoot 360 has introduced initiatives like 3-BALL Solo and HER Month. How do these programs support athlete engagement and strengthen the overall member experience?

Moody: 3-BALL Solo and HER Month represent two different ways Shoot 360 continues to innovate, both by enhancing the athlete experience and by expanding access to the game. 3-BALL Solo gives athletes a new competitive game mode with live shot feedback and network-wide leaderboards, making each session more measurable and motivating.

HER Month reflects another important part of our mission: creating more opportunities for girls and women to participate in basketball. Through clinics, leagues, events, and free training experiences, the initiative was designed to help close the participation gap and make the sport more welcoming and accessible. We were thrilled to see that it helped drive an 8% increase in Female Official Recruiting Visits in March compared to January.

These programs underscore how we are continually finding new ways to engage athletes, build community, and create experiences that keep players excited about training while helping grow the game for the next generation. They also give franchisees fresh programming and events that drive member engagement and help strengthen connections with their local communities.

Franchise Chatter: As the system grows, how is Shoot 360 supporting franchise partners in areas like real estate, training, operations, marketing, and programming?

Moody: As the system grows, our focus is on making sure franchise partners have support before, during, and after opening. That starts with guidance around location selection, facility planning, and buildout, along with initial training to help owners and their teams understand the Shoot 360 model before they open.

From there, franchise partners have access to ongoing training, operational resources, marketing support, technology tools, and national programming that help them run their facilities and stay connected to the broader system. We have also continued strengthening our leadership and internal support structure, so franchisees have the guidance they need as the brand expands.

The goal is to create a support model that can scale with the system. We want franchise partners to have the tools and resources to open efficiently, operate consistently, and deliver the Shoot 360 experience in a way that fits their local market.

Franchise Chatter: Looking ahead, what are Shoot 360’s biggest priorities for the second half of 2026 and beyond?

Moody: The priority is to continue growing the right way. With 14 additional openings expected by year-end and 40 locations currently in development, we’re focused on supporting our franchisees in every stage — well-established, in development, and everywhere in between. We’re also continuing to build upon our network and partner with more entrepreneurs passionate about youth enrichment and sports technology. The brand will also continue investing in innovation, programming, and new growth formats like the Fitness Intl LLC pilot.

As we grow, we’re focused on doing it in a way that preserves the quality of the athlete’s experience while creating new opportunities for franchisees. Long term, the mission remains the same: growing the game of basketball by making skill development smarter, faster, and more fun.
