Our office opened less than a year ago, and this partnership will go a long way in helping us grow and reach our potential.”

3.  Units of Las Vegas is one of two local partners selected to service the storage needs of the greater Las Vegas area. Coldwell Banker Premier Service Providers are chosen through extensive research in an effort to improve the home ownership experience for clients.

6.  Many who originally wanted to find a new home have decided to stay put and renovate. Here’s why:

  • Fewer homes to buy. Low housing inventory has become frustrating for those looking to purchase or relocate, and they are looking to fall in love with their home again.
  • Rising prices. Housing prices aren’t the only thing increasing. Mortgage rates are at their highest level since 2009, recently hitting 5.5%, up more than two percentage points since the first of the year.
  • More equity available. The upside of increased housing prices is higher equity available to many homeowners. Many are choosing to pull cash out of their home and spend it on a renovation.

7.  There are a few challenges for today’s renovation projects; thanks to labor shortages and supply chain disruptions, you are likely to experience long lead times and delays. Another problem is storage. During renovations, especially those that last longer than anticipated, homeowners need affordable, convenient storage solutions. Personal items and furnishings need to be packed up to provide ample space for the work to be done, and to avoid construction dust and potential damage to belongings.

8.  Units Moving and Portable Storage has seen an increase in homeowners who are renovating and looking for portable storage containers to keep right on their property, where it can stay for weeks or months depending on the length of the renovation project.

9.  According to Wade Malloch, Units operations manager, “Our customers appreciate the convenience of having their belongings safely and securely packed away right on site, in their driveway or backyard. This way, if the renovation goes a bit longer than anticipated, they have easy access to get to their things when they need them. Plus, when the renovation is complete, homeowners have the flexibility to move their belongings in at their pace, on their timeline.”

Donates to Massive BMW Charity Pro-Am

10.  In mid-June 2022, Units Moving and Portable Storage took part in the BMW Charity Pro-Am event from June 6-12. CEO Michael McAlhany said, “This is a major multi-day event we’re very excited to be a part of. I’m so glad we can be a part of the golf tournament by providing storage containers to keep operations running smoothly and allowing ease of access for the incredible volunteers.”

11.  The BMW Charity Pro-Am is part of the Korn Ferry Tour. It’s a three-day event where amateurs, celebrities, and professionals rotate between two courses: The Thornblade Club in Greer and The Carolina Country Club in Spartansburg. Typically, this event draws 40,000 spectators with 20% traveling from out of town.

12.  Units Moving and Portable Storage of Greenville is providing four containers. Three will go to the Thornblade Club and one container will be used at The Carolina Country Club. The containers will be used to store volunteer uniforms, volunteer items, signage, and operational equipment.

Company History

13.  Units Moving and Portable Storage was founded in 2004 by Michael McAlhany in South Carolina. The moving and storage industry was just getting started and McAlhany saw the potential. He wanted to provide personal customer service and supply the most innovative and highest quality equipment. Additionally, McAlhany wanted Units to offer solutions for any kind of space issues and eliminate the typical struggles that accompany moving to a new home or office.

14.  Just a year after starting Units, McAlhany began franchising. The concept was a hit, but the company’s growth has been relatively slow. Today, the Units Moving and Portable Storage network services over 500 cities in North America.
