15 Things You Need to Know About the Fetch! Pet Care Franchise
Announces Professional Pet Sitter of the Year
1. In mid-July 2021, Fetch! Pet Care named Marieclaire Demery, a Pasadena resident, Pet Sitter of the Year for her continuous commitment to the pets she cares for each and every day. Fetch! put a systemwide call out for nominations looking for sitters who have gone above and beyond the call of duty and the nominations poured in. One particular nomination from Fetch! franchise owner Tom Marshall, who services the San Gabriel Valley and downtown Los Angeles markets, stood out for its compassion and dedication, especially during a pandemic.

2. The nomination read, in part, “Demery’s elderly, bed-ridden client passed away recently after many months of waning health. Demery would visit his cat, Coco, three times a week, and during long stretches of time, while the owner was hospitalized, Demery was Coco’s only friend. In the beginning, Demery devoted additional time to get Coco to warm up and was determined to win her over, as Coco was not very social and needed a lot of patience and TLC. Unfortunately, the client’s family could not take Coco and without hesitation Demery adopted Coco. I believe that Coco would have definitely ended up in a shelter, if not for Demery.”
3. Greg Long, CEO of Fetch! Pet Care, said, “It was inspiring to read the nominations of so many of our wonderful pet care professionals who are making a difference in their communities. I am thrilled to award Best in Show to Marieclaire Demery. Her dedication to her clients and their furry family members is above and beyond.”
4. Demery, who is a retired real estate agent and has worked full time for Marshall for over three years, is an animal lover and passionate about her work. She found herself looking forward to the days that she would visit Coco. Even though Coco was afraid of Demery in the beginning and would hide when she visited, Demery never gave up on Coco.
5. Deciding to adopt Coco was an easy decision and she has no regrets. Demery already had one cat named Louis and worked hard to make sure both Coco and Louis acclimated to each other. All are currently living in harmony and thriving.
6. Marshall added, “Marieclaire is one of our busiest and most dedicated sitters. When she’s not hiking the hills or volunteering at the Pasadena Humane Society, she’s probably walking one of our dogs or doing a cat visit.” In addition to a monetary prize, Demery attended the company convention held later in the year.
Opens Newest Location in Centennial, Colorado
7. In early January 2022, Fetch! Pet Care announced that it was bringing its experienced, caring sitters to Centennial and nearby communities, such as Highlands Ranch and Cherry Creek. Nicole Yates was pleased to announce the launch of Fetch! Pet Care Centennial. With a focus on exceptional service and reliable care, she offers a range of services for furry, feathered, and scaly family members, including puppy check-ins, private dog walking, pet sitting, overnight care, and pet transportation.
8. Yates said, “I have always loved animals and our family currently has a puppy, so I can understand why people consider their pets to be part of the family. We expect the best care possible for our dog, and as such, Fetch! Centennial will provide clients with that same level of service that ensures animals are safe, happy and well cared for.”
9. As a professional franchise specialist, Yates knows the value of this specific business model. She recognizes franchise ownership allows for flexibility with the potential for significant income. When Yates began researching franchise opportunities, she hoped to find a business that would use her problem solving and customer service skills. After learning about Fetch!, she signed on quickly.
10. In addition to managing her new business, Yates is a busy wife and mother. She is involved with a local children’s publication and charity events, and is beginning to form partnerships with animal rescue organizations in and around Highlands Ranch.

11. Yates hand-picks and thoroughly trains each dog walker and pet sitter on her team. Each pet care provider is bonded, insured, background checked, and has specialized skills in caring for dogs, cats, birds, and other small caged animals. To establish a relationship between the Fetch! team member and the prospective client, and to ensure a good fit for all, Yates offers a free consultation.
12. Clients are encouraged to utilize the company’s mobile app for scheduling and communicating with team members. The app includes features such as GPS tracking to enable clients to locate their animal during a walk and a journal for the sitter’s notes, photos, and more.
Company History
13. Fetch! Pet Care was founded in 2002 by Paul Mann in Berkeley, California. Shortly after moving to California, Mann met the dog walker of the previous owner of the home he bought. Intrigued by the dog walker’s business, Mann did some research into dog walking. He discovered that there was an opportunity to develop a reliable source of professional, reliable pet walkers in neighborhoods. Mann’s concept was a success and within a year, Fetch! grew to 75 pet sitters on staff and over 1,000 clients.
14. Two years after founding Fetch!, Mann began franchising the concept. Over the next few years, Fetch! grew rapidly, and by 2008 there were more than 200 locations in operation. However, just a few years later, Fetch! began to decline and several locations were closed. Today, Fetch! Pet Care has a much smaller presence around the United States, but is still seeking new franchisees across the country.
