Central Bark Franchise Costs: Estimated Initial Investment (Item 7, 2022 FDD)
- Unless specifically negotiated with vendor or specified below, fees are not refundable.
1. Initial Franchise Fee: $45,000
- A portion of the initial franchise fee is refundable in certain circumstances.
2. Leasehold Improvements: $280,000 to $500,000
- Leasehold improvements will vary depending upon the size of the premises, location, material cost, labor cost, amount of the leasehold improvements provided by the landlord, if any, and other economic factors.
3. Architectural Fee: $8,000 to $15,000

4. Equipment, Fixtures: $55,000 to $80,000
- Equipment and fixtures may vary based upon the size and design of your Central Bark facility.
5. Store Signage: $6,500 to $8,000
6. Security Deposits: $7,000 to $12,000
- The estimate includes deposits which may be refundable to you at a later time.
- In most cases, your lease will require you to pay electric, gas, water, and other utilities directly; however, some landlords cover some utility charges through Common Area Maintenance fees or operating fees.
7. Opening Inventory: $3,000 to $5,000
- You will need an opening inventory. The approximate estimated cost is based upon the size of your Central Bark facility. Higher inventories will be required for larger facilities.
8. Initial Launch Advertising: $26,000
- Promotion costs may vary due to the type of media you choose to use. Costs vary by location as well. Public relations event costs will also vary by type of event and location.
9. Pre-Opening Promotional Package: $5,295 to $7,198
- You must purchase a pre-opening promotional package consisting, at a minimum, of an event signage kit, stationery, collateral, and branded promotional items that you will use to promote your Central Bark facility during the period before opening your franchised business. The low end of the range is the minimum you will spend.
10. Pre-Opening Training Travel and Lodging Expense: $2,000 to $5,000
- The estimate includes payroll for time spent by employees for training. Your payroll expense may vary depending on a variety of factors, including the prevailing minimum wage rate in your jurisdiction. It also includes travel and living expenses (such as lodging and meals) for attendees of the initial training program.
11. Training Materials: $1,500
12. Miscellaneous (Legal, Permits): $1,500 to $4,000
- The estimate includes attorneys’ fees and local government permits.
13. Supplies: $13,974 to $18,974

14. Insurance: $5,000 to $10,000
15. Computer Hardware and Software: $5,000 to $6,000
16. Microsite Fees: $4,000
- This estimate includes development of your microsite and search engine optimization for six months.
17. Lease Assignment Agreement Review Fee: $0 to $2,500
18. Rent: $5,000 to $8,000
- Rent will vary depending on the size of the premises, location, and other economic factors. The typical size of a Central Bark facility is 5,000 to 7,500 square feet, plus adjoining outside space.
19. Additional Funds (3 Months): $75,000 to $150,000
- This is an estimate only of the range of initial start-up expenses you may incur during the first 3 months of operation.
- The franchisor estimates that, in general, you can expect to put additional cash into the business during at least the first year of operations and sometimes longer.
20. Vehicle: $0 to $22,000

- The franchisor has relied on its and its affiliates’ and officers’ over 25 years of experience in this business to compile these estimates and on information the franchisor has obtained from its franchisees.
