2. Rich Ueberfluss, Chicagoland area representative, is now servicing the state of Wisconsin as the area representative. Ueberfluss currently owns Assisting Hands of Hinsdale and Naperville, Illinois and is responsible for bringing several new franchise owners to the Chicagoland area.
3. Robbie McCullough, area representative of Dallas, Texas, sold his first franchise in East Plano. McCullough also owns Assisting Hands Preston Hollow and brings industry expertise to the area of Dallas, Texas.
4. Robert Thomas, owner of Assisting Hands Fort Myers, has teamed up with long-time friend Peter Colgan to purchase Eastern Massachusetts and Vermont territories as area representative partners. Thomas said, “The combination of Assisting Hands’ proven systems and my success in Florida creates a sensational competitive advantage and leg-up for prospective franchisees. This combined with Pete’s knowledge of Boston, his first-hand experience caring for his mother-in-law as well as his experience in healthcare marketing and as a business coach makes for a win-win-win.”
5. Additionally, Greg Kling, owner of Assisting Hands Home Care Cincinnati, recently purchased the third of three territories in Cincinnati, as well as the Columbus, Ohio franchise territory.
6. Regarding Assisting Hands’ renewed international efforts, Armando Morales, owner of Assisting Hands Miami, will be heading up international sales for the company.

Expands to Michigan and Massachusetts
7. At the end of May 2018, Assisting Hands Home Care announced that it had signed franchise agreements to open new offices in Arlington, Virginia and Matteson, Illinois, as well as its first locations in Michigan and Massachusetts.
8. In June, Assisting Hands franchisee Monique Coleman began providing home care services in Clinton Township and surrounding areas, including Detroit. Coleman, who has worked for more than 25 years in hospital administration, admitting, billing, and benefits, said, “I chose Assisting Hands because caregivers are required to be certified. My goal is to serve families with excellent home care and establish a good reputation.”
9. The first Assisting Hands Home Care office in Massachusetts was also opened in June by franchisee John Benchoff of Wilmington. Benchoff, whose parents traveled 400 miles to care for him when he was battling cancer, became interested in opening an Assisting Hands Home Care franchise after realizing how hard it is to care for family. He will work with area representatives Robert Thomas and Peter Colgan, who purchased the rights to Massachusetts earlier this year.
10. U.S. Marine Corps veteran Sean Washington will open an Assisting Hands Home Care in Matteson, Illinois this fall. He will work with Chicagoland area representative Rich Ueberfluss. According to Washington, “I chose Assisting Hands because, like the name, they are about helping people, and I want to help people. There’s a nice vibe to the company and the franchise owners.”
11. Franchisee Brett Sanders will open an Assisting Hands Home Care location in Arlington this fall. Sanders cared for his grandparents in their home, which gave him a positive view of the home healthcare business. He will work with Virginia area representative Dean Johnson, whom Sanders said he has formed a good working relationship with.
Aims to Package One Million Meals in an Hour
12. In early July, following a successful test to see if its franchisees could prepare and pack 25,000 meals in an hour’s time, Assisting Hands Home Care announced a philanthropic initiative focused on alleviating hunger for seniors, including the company’s goal of one million meals in an hour.
13. During its annual franchise conference in June, Assisting Hands Home Care joined the fight against hunger and hosted a Hunger Project, organized by Feeding Children Everywhere. Approximately 100 Assisting Hands franchisees, national office staff, and family members divided into seven teams of 16 to work in assembly-line fashion. The volunteers were able to pack 25,000 healthy meals for Middle Tennessee seniors.
14. Patricia Winiecki and her husband Robb, co-owners of Assisting Hands Home Care Naples, conceived of the idea and presented it to Assisting Hands’ national team who decided to test the process and logistics at the 2018 franchise conference.
15. Winiecki said, “Everyone knows that there are hungry children and families out there, but I think people forget that there are hungry seniors out there too. They have a lot of expenses with medical bills and prescriptions, and sometimes food is the last thing that they purchase. I think that gets overlooked a lot.”
16. In just over an hour, Assisting Hands volunteers prepared and packed 25,056 jambalaya meals. The meals helped fight hunger for seniors served by Middle Tennessee food pantries. Lane Kofoed, CEO of Assisting Hands, said, “The Hunger Project was the highlight of our conference. I would like us to reach our one-million goal by 2020, which is our company’s 15th anniversary.”

17. Assisting Hands Home Care was founded in 2005 by Dr. Gail Silverstein, who used her extensive knowledge of the healthcare industry to start her own personal home care company. With more than 25 years of experience coordinating and leading healthcare programs in both the public and private sectors, along with the personal experience of trying to find care for her aging father, Dr. Silverstein realized there were serious gaps in the personal home care services industry.
18. Dr. Silverstein partnered with Cline Waddell to start Assisting Hands Home Care, which emphasizes quality customer service and highly personalized in-home care to meet its clients’ needs. Assisting Hands Home Care started franchising in 2006 and today, there are locations across the U.S. and one in Canada.
