Franchise Chatter (FC):  Tell us more about Mr. Appliance. When was the company founded?

Doug Rogers (DR):  Mr. Appliance opened its first franchise in 1996 and specializes in residential appliance repair as well as commercial and residential dryer vent cleaning. All Mr. Appliance locations are owned and operated by independent franchisees.

FC:  How many Mr. Appliance locations are there?

DR:  Mr. Appliance has 210 U.S. locations and 4 Canadian locations.

FC:  How has the company grown over the last decade?

DR:  Mr. Appliance has grown in number of units opened, nearly doubling over the last 10 years, and in systems allowing our franchisees to operate more efficiently and effectively.

FC:  What makes Mr. Appliance an attractive franchise opportunity?

DR:  Proven systems like Front Line Service, iPad point of sale tool, paperless operation, inventory management, online booking and menu pricing provide franchisees with the tools necessary to compete and win in the marketplace.

FC:  What sets the brand apart from other appliance repair companies in the industry?

DR:  Mr. Appliance is continually developing, refining and implementing systems that allow our franchisees to compete in the marketplace with the best system available. FC:  We understand that Mr. Appliance has had some good recruitment success. Tell us more about how the company recruits top talent in the field.

DR:  Mr. Appliance has proven systems for recruitment, training and retaining technicians. Furthermore, we have instant access available to every technician that allows him or her to search, at the customer’s home, what other technicians have done to solve the same or similar issue based on model and type of issue.

FC:  Do many of your franchisees have a background in the appliance industry?

DR:  Mr. Appliance franchisees vary from no industry experience to a strong industry experience. The good news is, it doesn’t matter what, or if, you have industry experience; Mr. Appliance has a proven track that accommodates.

FC:  What do you look for in the ideal franchise candidate?

DR:  Mr. Appliance is looking for qualified candidates that have a passion for home appliance service and customer interaction.
