Detailed Estimates of Doc Popcorn PopKiosk or PopShop Franchise Costs Based on Item 7 (Estimated Initial Investment) of Doc Popcorn’s 2013 Franchise Disclosure Document – Part 2

PopKiosk or PopShop

1.  Initial Franchise Fee:  $37,500 to $69,500

2.  Travel and Living Expenses:  $1,000 to $3,550

Doc Popcorn PopShop3.  Real Estate Lease:  $1,000 to $32,000

  • These figures presume that you will be leasing your premises. You will need approximately 100 to 500 square feet for your location. The expense of leasing will vary depending upon the size of the premises, its location, landlord contributions, and the requirements of individual landlords.
  • Landlords typically require security deposits equal to 1 or 2 months’ rent and may, in addition, require payment in advance of the first and/or last (or more) month’s rent. The total estimated initial investment shown in the chart includes 1 month’s security plus 3 months’ rent for your initial period of operation.

4.  Equipment/Decor:  $15,000 to $35,000

  • This estimate involves the furniture, fixtures, and equipment you will need to open your fixed PopKiosk or PopShop.

5.  Construction:  $10,000 to $130,000

  • The cost incurred to construct a Fixed Poperating Unit will depend on a large number of factors that will vary by the location for the Fixed Poperating Unit, the region of the country where your Doc Popcorn business is located, and the costs incurred to run necessary electrical and water lines.
  • If you will operate from a PopKiosk, the PopKiosk will be purchased from the franchisor’s affiliate at an estimated cost of $40,000 to $65,000. The PopKiosk initial estimate is based upon the purchase of the PopKiosk and equipment.
  • The highest end of this estimate, $130,000, represents the high estimate for the costs of construction of a PopShop.

6.  Store Creation Fee:  $10,000

  • You will be charged a Store Creation Fee of $10,000. The Store Creation Fee does not include payment of your architect design fees or installation fees.

7.  Architect’s Fee:  $4,000 to $14,000

  • You must hire an architect to create local architectural design services for your PopKiosk or PopShop.

8.  Opening Inventory:  $4,000 to $10,000

9.  Signage:  $3,500 to $12,000

  • You must purchase and install at your expense signage based on the franchisor’s System standards, as described in the Operating Manuals or as the franchisor may designate otherwise.

10.  Computer System:  $2,000 to $6,000

  • This figure includes the cost range for a point-of-sale system, credit card processing, a high speed internet connection, and back office computer systems.

11.  Store Camera System:  $1,000 to $3,500

12.  Miscellaneous Opening Costs:  $3,000 to $12,500

13.  Additional Funds – 3 Months:  $5,000 to $40,000

14.  Total PopKiosk or PopShop Investment Estimate:  $97,000 to $378,050

  • The franchisor has relied on the experience of its officers and franchisees to arrive at these estimates.
