3rd Annual “Here’s to Heroes” Fundraiser Raises $75,000

During a six week period from May 27 through July 7, Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery, a sports bar that pays homage to the old public houses of America, England, Scotland and Ireland raised $65,000 for the Folds of Honor Foundation through the sale of paper dog tags at all Tilted Kilt locations nationwide. Tilted Kilt’s partner for this fundraiser, Anheuser-Busch, agreed to donate an additional $10,000 to make the total donation more than $75,000. A check presentation by Tilted Kilt President, Ron Lynch, took place August 14, 2013 at the Tilted Kilt pub in Tempe, AZ.

The 3rd annual “Here’s to Heroes” fundraiser allowed Tilted Kilt to salute the sacrifices of the more than 1 million men and women choosing to serve in the United States Armed Forces. Customers were given an opportunity to purchase a $1.00 or $5.00 paper dog tag to be personally customized and displayed on the pub walls.

Last year, Tilted Kilt independently raised more than $17,000. This year, Tilted Kilt nearly quadrupled that number with big contributions from the Tempe, AZ and San Antonio, TX pubs, raising more than $8,000 each.

“We have always been thrilled to be involved in such an honorable event to give back to our nation’s heroes and their families who have sacrificed so much so that we can enjoy our freedom,” said Lynch. “We received tremendous support from our franchisees and our guests. Without them, this year’s fundraising success would not have been possible.”

The Folds of Honor Foundation provides educational scholarships to family members and dependents of fallen or injured service members.

“We are extremely grateful to Tilted Kilt for their generous donation and know it will help Folds of Honor provide an incredible amount of support to families of U.S. service members,” said Major Dan Rooney, founder of the Folds of Honor Foundation. “Over 1 million dependents have been adversely affected by multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan and more than 87 percent do not qualify for federal scholarship assistance. Folds of Honor fills the gap for these military families by providing scholarships and other education assistance programs.”

Tilted Kilt has been notorious for hosting successful national and local fundraisers at its pubs across the country. For example, Toys for Tots, MDA Shamrocks, Canned Food Drives, and partnering with local Fire, Police and Cancer organizations and much more. The key to Tilted Kilt’s success are its loyal guests and dedicated franchisees. Inspiring franchisees across the nation to make a difference through their pub is step one. From there, franchisees emit that passion to their employees which transcends to guests. Being able to localize a fundraiser brings the community together with a competitive spirit for a worthy cause that benefits all.

With over 85 open units in the U.S. and Canada and 20 in development, the franchise has not overlooked the importance of fundraising efforts and giving back to the community.
