According to the company’s Franchise Disclosure Document, the total investment necessary to begin operation of a Sport Clips franchise is $177,800 to $301,500. That includes $72,000 that must be paid to the franchisor or affiliate.
It is estimated that 98 percent of the investors in the Sport Clips franchise are multi-unit owners. Logan said the model is particularly appealing to investors who desire a semi-absentee franchise program that will allow them to continue working their regular job, perhaps in a corporate environment, while providing them with an income and a 5-8 year exit strategy from their corporate position.

The company recruits new franchisees through a variety of channels, including direct mail, radio, and franchise expos.
“No one of them is the silver bullet,” Logan said. “We get referrals from stores themselves. Probably 30 to 40 percent of franchise leads come from the stores or other franchisees.”
The ideal candidates are “people who have a successful track record of building teams,” Logan said, and the company performs personality tests to indicate what motivates the potential franchisee. There is no need for previous experience in hairstyling.
Initial and ongoing training in the Sport Clips system are conducted at the local level, online, and during an intense one-week period at the Sport Clips headquarters in Georgetown, Texas.
