Charley’s Grilled Subs, the 450-unit franchise best known for their hot, fresh, made-to-order Philly Steak sandwiches, is hoping to establish a closer connection with their customers through a fun SMS campaign where participating customers are guaranteed to win one of five prizes. Through May 12, 2012, “Charley’s at the Bat” SMS campaign awards participants who text the word “swing” to 69529 with one of five instant prizes, including a grand slam cash prize of $500.
To kick off the 2012 baseball season, Charley’s is paying homage to America’s pastime, by using baseball references in naming their prizes.
- a “double” provides a coupon for a free fry and drink with the purchase of a sub
- a “triple” provides a coupon for a free gourmet fry and drink with the purchase of a sub
- a “homerun” provides a buy-one-get-one-free coupon
- a “grandslam” wins a $500 cash prize
After texting “swing” to 69529, participants will be prompted to send Charley’s their email address via text message. Charley’s will then instantly email the coupons to the provided addresses.
Grand slam winners will be notified of their $500 prize winning via email, but will receive their prizes through postal mail. Nine participants will win the grand slam prize. Each customer may only participate once per SMS number.
“To loyal Charley’s customers, a good Philly Steak sandwich is just as much part of Americana as baseball,” said Mike Cassar, Charley’s Vice President of Marketing. “It’s only natural to marry the two in the ‘Charley’s at the Bat’ text campaign in which everyone wins.”
Aside from their Philly Steak sandwiches, Charley’s Grilled Subs also serves 100 percent Certified USDA choice steak, chicken and deli subs, gourmet fries, and freshly squeezed lemonade in more than 450 locations worldwide in 46 states and 16 countries. Founded in 1986 and headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, more than 90 percent of all Charley’s Grilled Subs restaurants are run by franchisees.
We love Charley’s grilled steak and chicken. We also loved the fish sandwich and would love to see it come back.
