- In 1981, Troy Feist, who was then 19, opened the first Beach Hut Deli in Granite Bay, near Folsom Lake in Northern California. Being a lover of the beach, Troy created a deli with a beach theme. The deli was adorned with beach and surf memorabilia and used surfboards as tables. The tradition continues to this day, with each restaurant featuring a wall of infamy displaying photos of happy patrons and the Beach Hut staff having fun and sporting their beach attire.
