What is Submarina California Subs?

1.  Submarina California Subs is a premier sub sandwich restaurant franchise offering a high quality product using fresh baked bread (never frozen and contain no preservatives) and only the highest quality meats (sliced right in front of the customer, just like one would find in a deli), cheeses, and ingredients.  Aside from hot and cold sub sandwiches, Submarina serves salads, soups, chips, desserts and drinks.

2.  According to Gina Galvin of Mood for Food, “Submarina has an amazing quality of meats reminiscent of the great delis of New York,” and “Few competitors have the variety of fresh produce and the handling of product with such care as Submarina restaurants.”

3.  Founded in 1977 and franchising since 1988, Submarina is a privately held company headquartered in San Marcos, California (a suburb of San Diego).  With locations throughout California, Michigan, Tennessee, Georgia, and New York, and new stores opening in Texas, about 90% of sales still come from California.  Submarina’s area developer in Texas is planning to open 25 restaurants in two years, with the first 3 to open in the first two months of 2012.  Submarina expects to open a total of 20 new franchise locations in 2012.

4.  In a recent interview with Nation’s Restaurant News, Submarina’s CEO Bruce Rosenthal said, “We believe in serving our customers an absolute best-in-class, premium product.  And we also believe the critical element to our entire business model is serving and offering top-quality food. I don’t intend to compete with Subway on price and they can’t compete with me on quality.”

There are so many franchise opportunities today but i think point 2 in your opinions is vital – a company that treats its franchisees well is always a good one to go for.

Hi Peter,

That is certainly an important factor to consider, along with many other factors of course. Thanks so much for dropping by and leaving a comment. Hope to hear from you again soon.

Best regards,

Ambrosio
