What is Noodles & Company?
1. Noodles & Company is a fast casual restaurant chain with more than 260 U.S. restaurants serving Asian, Mediterranean and American inspired noodle dishes, soups, salads and sandwiches. Food is prepared fresh, made to order, and served on real china with real silverware in a “no-tip required” environment.
2. The company was founded in 1993 by Aaron Kennedy, who wanted to offer Italian, American and Chinese cuisines under one roof, with noodles serving as the anchor to tie all of them together. In 1995, he opened his first restaurant in Denver, Colorado and has since added soups, salads, and sandwiches to the menu.
3. Customer favorites include Japanese Pan Noodles (caramelized udon noodles in a sweet soy sauce, broccoli, carrots, shiitake mushrooms, Asian sprouts, black sesame and cilantro), Penne Rosa (spicy tomato cream sauce, penne pasta, mushrooms, tomato, spinach and wine, parmesan or feta), Wisconsin Mac & Cheese (a blend of cheddar and jack cheeses, cream, elbow macaroni), and The Med Duo (chicken, mushrooms, spinach, red bell pepper, cucumber, red onion, their signature Med dressing, cilantro and feta on flatbread).
4. At the end of 2010, an investment group led by Catterton Partners, one of the leading consumer-focused private equity firm in North America, acquired a majority interest in Noodles & Company. Previous investments of Catterton Partners include P.F. Chang’s, Baja Fresh, Cheddar’s, Outback Steakhouse, Restoration Hardware, and Build-a-Bear Workshop.
