(Ambrosio’s note: I received a very interesting email a few days ago from a certain Mr. Evan Altshuler, a casting producer from New York City. Apparently, there is a new reality TV show under development that has a franchising theme to it. I told Mr. Altshuler that I’m not the right person for the show but, with his permission, I can post his email on my blog. He said, “I’d LOVE for you to post this email on your fantastic website” — so here it is.
I find the premise of the show really intriguing and I can’t wait to watch the series if and when it gets on the air. I don’t know Mr. Altshuler and I have no connection whatsoever to him or this production. So if you feel you are the next big reality TV star, please make sure to do your own due diligence before taking action. If you know anyone who might be a good fit for the show, please feel free to pass this along.)
Dear Ambrosio —
My name is Evan Altshuler, and I am a Casting Producer for a non-fiction television production company currently working on a new exciting project being developed for a major cable network.
We’ve all seen reality TV shows in which a small business is visited by a savvy expert who imparts advice and wisdom in the hopes of making that business more successful. Whether it be celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey or hairstylist/salon owner Tabatha Coffey, business-minded experts have found their place on reality TV. But what are the interests of these individuals? It’s not as if they have any real financial stake in these small businesses… until now.
The show I’m working on will feature an individual who will mentor and advise small businesses that he/she may be interested in investing in. After spending weeks implementing changes and developing a rapport, each episode will conclude with a negotiation between the small business and our main character, the investor, who will decide if/what the terms will be for franchising the business.
I am reaching out to you for help in finding an established, business-savvy individual with franchising experience who wants to take his/her business to the next level by starring in his/her very own major cable series. If this is something you are interested in, please reply to my email or call me directly at 646-481-7296. If this does not seem like you, but you know others who may be qualified, please forward this message on.
I’ve had the privilege of working on many different TV shows, but this idea is one that I really stand behind. I hope that with your help, we can find the right person for this unique opportunity.
Thank you very much. I hope to hear from you soon.
